What are fibric acid derivatives?
|
Fibric acid derivatives are a class of drugs that are known to reduce the concentration of very-low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) in the body. This group of medication has been proven to bear medicinal properties to reduce the levels of blood triglyceride by dissuading its production by the liver and accelerating its flush out from the body. They, however, show mild effects in the enhancement of the presence of HDL cholesterol in the blood. This medicine is a potent antidote for the disorder of pancreas called pancreatitis. In this disease, the person witnesses serious inflammation of pancreas due to the severe congestion of triglyceride, above 1000 mg/dl. Thus, by reducing the levels of triglyceride, they save us from the risk of this dangerous disease, pancreatitis. It is worth noting that the sole dosage of Fibrates is not effective at reducing the levels of LDL cholesterol in the body. People witnessing the build-up of LDL and triglyceride to the boundary line, are suggested a combined dosage of an effective fibrate with a statin drug. This combination not only works wonders at clearing the LDL congestion, but also increasing the concentration of HDL for the benefit of the body. At last, the derivatives of fibric acid are counted among the most effective medicines for preventing heart attacks and strokes.
