Foods That Are high in Cholesterol


Products and food items which come from animals like egg yolks, cheese, whole milk, fatty red meat are others are high in cholesterol. These food items also have high content of Trans fat and saturated fat which raises bad cholesterol level (LDL). The level of LDL increases much more with saturated fat than anything else in diet and it also increases the chances of heart attacks. In actual it is the saturated fat content in food which is more harmful because it leads to more production of harmful cholesterol by the liver which may be around four times from our diet. Some of the other food items which are harmful and rich in high cholesterol include cream, ice cream, cream cheese, organ meats like brain and kidney, certain shellfish like shrimp, Duck, goose and others. Besides these, prepared and processed food items like pastries, cookies, muffin and others are also rich source of fat including Trans fat. Deep fried foods also contain high cholesterol levels. One should not consume more than 300mg of cholesterol in a day. Thus limit the intake of all these food items and also pay attention on the food labeling of the packed items to keep a check on their cholesterol and fat levels.
