Hypertension is a prolonged disease in which the blood exerts force on the inner walls of the arteries which is very high. Adolescents and old people are more likely to get affected by hypertension. Hypertension exerts force on arteries of the heart and the circulatory system which can cause damage to certain parts of the body.
Hypertension can be classified into primary and secondary. It is categorized as primary when the causes are unknown. The hypertension caused due to other disease or abnormality is called as the secondary. Hypertension can be caused due to smoking, excessive fat and alcohol intake. Age, genetic factors, overweight, excessive salt intake, irregular physical activity and environmental stress are the factors responsible in the developing hypertension. The people who lead a sedentary lifestyle, the people affected with diabetes, and those who have calcium, vitamin D deficiency are like to get affected by hypertension.
Blood pressure rises with age in both the sexes. Severe headaches, person may face problems while breathing, feeling of dizziness, feeling fatigue throughout the day, chest pain, feeling nausea are some of the common symptoms of hypertension. The person may also face vision problems, irregularity in heartbeat, and feeling of ear noise or buzzing, feeling shortness of breath, vomiting, irritability and general fever.
