Lifestyle Changes to Lower Cholesterol


High Cholesterol level in human body tends to cause a lot of diseases including heart and kidney problems. The easiest and simplest way to keep the cholesterol level under control is changing one’s lifestyle. The ‘National Cholesterol Education Program’ has recommended several ways to help people intending to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Firstly one has to reduce the intake of food high in cholesterol, Trans Fat and Saturated fat content which also cause obesity. Overweight is one important reason of rise in cholesterol level. To remain healthy and keep body weight under control one should substitute the fried snacks with fruits, low fat alternatives and cereals. Secondly to keep healthy a balanced diet should be consumed which is low in fat and high in vitamins, proteins, minerals and water soluble fiber. Whole grains, vegetables and lean meat needs to be introduced in the diet cutting down intake of cheese, butter, egg yolk, meat, chips, cookies etc. Thirdly physical activities and exercises should be incorporated in daily routine making the lifestyle active. Finally habits like smoking should be stopped completely as it leads to heart disorders increasing LDL –Cholesterol level in human body. These simple lifestyle changes will eradicate risky cholesterol problems from your body.
