Tips before Ordering Food with High Cholesterol

The foods that are rich in cholesterol are mostly animal byproducts or products like ghee, milk, butter, cheese, meat and eggs. It is always a better option to avoid foods that are rich in fats like junk foods, fast foods, pastries, mayonnaise and potatoes and fried foods. It is not the cholesterol content that is a cause of worry but the fat content should be taken care of as the liver produces harmful LDL cholesterol with the help of saturated fats. These saturated fats are most important factors in choosing the foods we want to have. The foods which are labeled as “High cholesterol” are rich in triglycerides or saturated fats. The foods must be chose carefully based on the information given below:

    • Cholesterol free food – are the products that contain cholesterol under 2 milligrams and contains less than 2 grams of fat. Cholesterol free doesn’t mean zero cholesterol.

    • Low cholesterol food – are the products that contain cholesterol under 20 milligrams and under 20 grams of fat (saturated).

    • Fat free foods – foods that contain less than 0.5 gram fat, it is not completely free of fat

    • Low fat food – foods that contain 3 g or less fat.

    • Reduced fat food – contains relatively 25% less fat compared to ordinary fat foods
