High Cholesterol Prevention with Women
|
The cholesterol level in both men and women tends to differ from each other. Usually women who have crossed the age of 55 tend to have a higher cholesterol level. Once they reach their menopause the HDL – cholesterol or good cholesterol level in their body is likely to decrease which results in increase of the LDL- cholesterol level that is harmful for the body. Thus to keep the cholesterol level under control and remain healthy, women need to follow certain guide lines.
Firstly smoking has to be completely stopped because it causes serious heart diseases. Secondly women should get the routine checkup done at regular intervals. Thirdly being overweight will increase the LDL- cholesterol level which is not good for women’s’ health. Regular exercises increases the HDL- cholesterol level which helps to keep the body fit and healthy. Fourthly foods that are good source of proteins, vitamins, minerals and fiber but are free from saturated fat and Tran’s fat need to be introduced in the diet in larger proportion.
Eatable items like cheese, butter, meat, egg yolk, cookies, fried chips, whole milk should be avoided while the consumption of vegetables, fruits, nuts and whole grains is increased. |
