Side Effects of Statin Drugs
|
Statin drugs are double edged swords that reduce the bad cholesterol on one hand, but, on the other hand, they are known to cause several health issues. The continuous usage of these drugs are believed to cause side effects like muscle pain, head ache, weakness, fatigue. Looking at the unfruitful side of these drugs, statins are known to be notorious medications that steal the essential presence of enzyme CoQ10 from the heart. This enzyme is most integral to the proper functioning of the heart. Long term usage of these drugs depletes the presence of this natural enzyme which leads to weakening of the heart. In case of acute deficiency of this enzyme, the heart becomes extremely vulnerable to a heart failure. Further, it has been well proven after several studies that the repeated use of this drug leads to the progression of a condition called TGA, Transient Global Amnesia. Certain percentage of cholesterol is requisite for supporting the healthy functioning of the brain. Beneficial cholesterol located in the myelin sheaths acts as the essential insulators for neuron. The over-dosage of statin is known for robbing this helpful cholesterol from the brain. This leads to forgetfulness, violent behavior, disorientation and sometimes suicide.
