The healthiest way to reduce cholesterol in human body is switching over to healthy and nutritious diet because the prescribed medicines for reducing cholesterol level have adverse side effects on overall health. This can be done by replacing foods that are rich in Tran’s fat and saturated fat like meat, butter, red meat and fried snacks with foodstuffs that are low in cholesterol content.

 Many individuals will find it difficult to change the food habit as they are used to taking such food for years. The only possible solution for them is to replace their high cholesterol food with low fat substitutes like fish, turkey and chicken which make excellent alternatives for pork and beef. Once they succeed in bringing their cholesterol level under control, they can start taking their favorite foods in small quantities.

Food that is rich in plant sterols and fiber like fruits, whole grains, nuts and vegetables needs to be introduced in generous amount in daily diet. Fiber helps to get rid of the excess cholesterol present in the intestine before the body absorbs it while plant sterols prevent the cholesterol being absorbed in the blood stream. Thus both sterols and fiber play a very important role in controlling the cholesterol level in human body.
